ANKLA Singer Quits
March 5, 2010Vocalist Eddie Macias has quit ANKLA, the Los Angeles-based band led by former PUYA guitarist Ramón Ortíz. His statement on the matter follows below.
"It's been a great two years with the band as a lead singer and many great shows and experiences with Pepe [José Clarke Magaña], Tony [Castaneda], Oscar [Santiago], Ramón and myself. We wrote great tunes, as you guys hear them on the 'Persistence' EP [which came out in 2009].
"Like everything in life, it has a beginning and it has an end in order to continue with my musical career which has been very diverse throughout the years (bands like PUYA in early stages, SITH, CROMAFACTOR, EDDAHED, SONS OF YOU, THE DEEP BURRITO and my new project with Martin Latimer called MADERA NEGRA).
"With this note I am informing you guys that I will not be able to continue my duties as a lead singer for the band ANKLA.
'I would like to thank Ramón Ortíz for giving me this great opportunity to be in this band for this period of time and all of his associates.
"Thank you and let the music shine!"
Video footage of ANKLA performing the song "Persistence" in the group's rehearsal room can be viewed below.
The band's debut album, "Steep Trails", was released in July 2006 through Bieler Bros. Records.
